When they were younger, LGBTT seniors did not feel comfortable with family or community. Out and Aging: Our Stories is a collection of individual life stories, which not only chronicles the history of the LGBTT community in Windsor and Essex County, but also reveals the experience of coming out, living and aging as an LGBTT person.

It is important that the experiences of LGBTT seniors are disclosed so that the community might be aware of their achievements and struggles. It is hoped that enhancing the community's knowledge will build a tolerance of these often doubly disenfranchised seniors.

This book is the first step in recognizing a generation of pioneers, many of whom laid the groundwork for the freedoms LGBTT individuals enjoy today. As history shapes the present and often determines the future, it is hoped that Out and Aging: Our Stories will form the foundation for others to tell their stories.
