About the Festival

About the 2010 Windsor Pride Festival

The Windsor Pride Community aims to promote equality and diversity through all of its campaigns including its annual Windsor Pride Festival. The six-day Pride festival uses theatre, music, art and entertainment to raise awareness of discrimination and the issues and difficulties affecting the lives of LGBTIQ people around the world. Our Parade is an explosion of Pride in the heart of the Downtown Windsor, attracting approximately 7,000 people in a celebration of diversity. Through this we aim to promote a sentiment in favour of equality, uniting people in a celebrative atmosphere where all are welcome, and fostering a sense of community within the Windsor-Essex LGBTIQ population. Continuing to grow year after year, the Windsor Pride Festival in 2010 promises to be one the best so far.

The Pride Festival committee is responsible for promoting, managing, arranging, supporting and conducting all the events of the festival, including the Parade, parties, exhibitions and entertainment. We recruit the best artists and entertainers, the top health advisors and high profile journalists to ensure that the events we put out are at the top of their game and that everyone who participates in Pride has a fantastic time.Another of our aims is also to raise funds. As a not for profit organization run entirely by volunteers, we can never afford to sit back and enjoy the celebration. Instead, our volunteers work the year round, campaigning and working to give the Windsor-Essex region one of its best festivals every year.

We also encourage involvement from all areas of the community, so please visit our volunteer section of our website for details of how you can get involved in the festival or the Windsor Pride Community organization.
The festival will begin on Tuesday, August 3 and continue throughout the week at various locations with the main events being held on Friday, August 6, Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8 at the Riverfront Festival Plaza in Downtown Windsor.

For more detailed schedule of events please visit the events page on the left side bar.
